Lady Bear Signee Invited to Jones Cup Trials

WACO, Texas - Baylor signee Sheila Lambert has been invited to participate in the 2000 R. William Jones Cup Team Trials. Lambert was selected by USA Women's Basketball and Select Team Committee. She is one of 45 players to be invited to the May 17-22 trials held at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
A team of 12 players will be selected by the Select Team Committee to compete in the R. William Jones Cup held on July 16-20 in Taipei, Taiwan. The 12-member squad will be announced on May 22 and will start training at the Olympic Training Center on July 3 through July 12 for the Jones Cup competition.
Lambert, a 5-6 guard, is a two-time NJCAA All-American, the first two-time JUCO All-American at Grayson County College (Texas). In addition, th Seattle native was a two-time first team all-region selection and was twice named North Texas Conference MVP. This past season Lambert averaged 23.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 7.9 assists per game. Coming out of Chief Stealth High School in Seattle, Lambert was a Parade All-American.
