Two Softball Players Named All-Big 12

WACO, Texas - Baylor softball players Naomi Fitzgerald and Sarah Caudle were among the 36 student-athletes named All-Big 12 by the Big 12 softball coaches.
The teams consists of an 18-member first team and and 18-member second team. Fitzgerald, a junior centerfielder from College Grove, Tenn., was named to the first team while Caudle, a freshman designated player from Gilroy, Calif., earned second team honors.
Fitzgerald ranks second in the Big 12 and 35th in the nation in hitting with a .414 average. The leadoff hitter leads the Baylor squad in doubles, hits, runs scored and has maintained a .950 fielding percentage, making only three errors all season.
Caudle earned her spot on the second team as a designated player but also appeared in 23 games as a pitcher. She hit .388 for the season and leads the team in doubles with 10 and slugging percentage (.491). Caudle is also one of two Baylor players to start in every Baylor game this season.
Fitzgerald and Caudle make the third and fourth Baylor players to be named All-Big 12. Second baseman Jenny Vargas was named All-Big 12 first team in 1997 and Misty Perry, a first baseman, earned second team honors in 1999.
