WACO, Texas - The Baylor track and field program added two athletes to their program, as Katherine Duncan and Zsolt Szeglet signed National Letters of Intent.
"We are excited about our two mid-term signees. Both are talented individuals who have the potential to do well in our program," Hart said.
Duncan, a middle distance runner from Roscoe High School was the 1999 state champion in the 800 and 1600 meters. Her top times include a 2:13.9 in the 800m, 5:12 in the 1600m and 10:59 in the 3200m. The high school senior, who is also a National Merit Scholar, will join the track team in the fall of 2000.
"Katherine has been an outstanding distance runner her entire high school career. We feel that she will take that talent and develop into an outstanding competitor in the Big XII," Hart said.
Szeglet, a quartermiler from Afka Hungrary, is the Hungarian junior National Champion in the 400m. His personal best in that race is a 45.95. Szeglet will join the track team for the 2000 indoor season.
"I have been following Zsolt's career and had the opportunity to watch him run at the world championships in Spain. We feel that he is a fine young prospect in the 400 meters," Hart said.
