Senior guard Nichelle Boutte (Boo-tay) had her basketball career cut short when she suffered a career-ending knee injury in practice yesterday (Monday).
Boutte, a native of Conroe (Oak Ridge HS), suffered a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and a possible tear of the medial meniscus ligament in her right knee. She will undergo surgery to repair the damage after the Big 12 Tournament.
Boutte, a three-year letterwinner, played backup point guard for the Lady Bears. She had appeared in 12 games this season and averaged 6.8 minutes and 1.8 points a game.
With the loss of Boutte, the Lady Bears' roster now numbers 10 players.
