Missouri (21-13, 8-7) got on the board first, scoring two runs in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Tigers held Baylor (28-11, 12-6) scoreless for three innings and a solo home run by Luke Cassis in the bottom of the third bumped the lead to 3-0.
Baylor rallied with two runs in the fourth led by Kelly Shoppach, who smacked a solo home run to right field. Mike Huggins then walked and advanced to third on a double by Steve Dorneman. Huggins came home on an error by the second baseman to cut the Tigers' lead to one run.
