WACO, Texas - As they did against UT-Arlington a week ago, the Baylor men's tennis team won all but one match as they beat Lamar University in Waco on Saturday, 7-1.
The match was scored using an experimental system, one which Baylor will use again at the National Team Indoor Tournament at the end of February. According to this scoring system, if one school sweeps the doubles matches, they get two points instead of the customary one.
Baylor did just that, winning all three doubles matches for the third time in a row. Baylor has now won 11 of 12 doubles matches this spring.
In singles, Johannes Michalsky lost a tight match in the tiebreaker to Emanuel Sjoblom, 7-5, 3-6 (10-4). Each of the other Baylor players won in straight sets.
The Bears' next action comes on Monday, Feb. 14 as the No. 12 Bears host No. 27 Clemson. The match is set for 1 p.m. at the Streich Tennis Courts.
