Bears Drop Second Game, 72-60

DENTON, Texas - North Texas pulled away from Baylor midway through the first half and never trailed again en route to a 72-60 win in Denton Wednesday night.
The Bears (1-1) took a 22-21 lead on Mandy Hayworth's jumper with 10:56 to play in the first half, but the Eagles (3-0) went on an 18-9 run to the end the half.
Baylor cut the lead to five at 50-45 on Eboni Hammonds's layup with 13:27 to play, but North Texas built the lead back to 11 when Empress Drane, who finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds, drained a jumper with 8:34 to go.
"We struggled from the time we hit the floor," BU coach Sonja Hogg said. "We showed no intensity on defense."
The Lady Bears' Danielle Crockrom led all scorers with 21 points on a 10-for-22 shooting night. She also topped the rebounding charts with 15. Britany Bruns addded 1- point from her guard spot.
Nicole Thomas led the Eagles with 18 points.
North Texas out-shot Baylor 43.4 percent to 39.1. BU struggled from the line, hitting six-of-15 for 40 percent while NT hit 22-of-32 for 68.8 percent.
