No. 22 Oklahoma Stays Perfect, Beats Baylor 87-59

NORMAN, Okla. - The 22nd ranked Oklahoma Sooners kept their Big 12 record perfect at 8-0 with an 87-59 win over the Lady Bears in Norman Wednesday night. Oklahoma extended their season record to 18-3 while Baylor, suffering their eighth straight defeat, fell to 5-13 overall and 0-8 in Big 12 action.
Despite falling behind at the beginning of the first half, the Lady Bears made it a two-point game, 22-20, on a 3-point bucket by freshman Stasha Richards at the 7:10 mark. However, Oklahoma outscored Baylor 19-6 in the final 5:43 of the half to take a 44-28 lead into the lockerroom.
The Sooners continued to extend their lead in the second half outscoring Baylor 16-2 to start the final 20 minutes. Oklahoma outrebounded Baylor 52-33 and shot 48.5 percent for the game. Phylesha Whaley led Oklahoma with 20 points, freshman Caton Hill recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
For Baylor sophomore Danielle Crockrom led in both scoring and rebounding with 15 points and seven boards. Senior guard Mandy Hayworth was the only other Lady Bear scoring in double figures, she tallied 11. Sophomore point guard Nicole Collins contributed eight points, four assists and five steals.
The road doesn't get any easier for the Lady Bears as they will host No. 9 Texas Tech on Sat., Feb. 5 in Waco at 700 p.m.
