SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Jackie Stiles scored 19 points to lead Southwest Missouri to an 81-42 win over Baylor in Springfield Saturday night.
Stiles, who scored 52 points - including the game-winning free throw - in a win over Baylor in Waco last year, went 6-of-17 from the field while no Lady Bear broke into double figures.
Southwest Missouri improved to 2-1 on the season while Baylor fell to 1-2. It was Baylor's worst defeat since a 99-59 loss to Texas in 1997-98.
Stiles added 10 rebounds while Tara Mitchem scored 13 points. Melanie Fisher had nine points to go with 10 roubnds and five steals for SWM.
Nicole Collins and Monica Arnold led Baylor with eight points apiece. Collins hit 3-of-12 field goal attempts, while Mandy Hayworth made 3-of-13. Leading Lady Bear scorer Danielle Crockrom, who had been averaging 23 points a game, was limited to four points while shooting only four times.
Baylor shot 27 percent as a team and committed 29 turnovers. SWM out-rebounded Baylor 51-35.
Collins opened the game with a trey, but the home team went on a 29-6 run as Baylor got stuck in a scoring drought of nearly nine minutes. Stasha Richards hit a three-pointer with 3:25 remaining before halftime, but BU trailed 35-15 during intermission.
The game was played before a crowd of 7,056 in the Hammons Student Center.
