Baylor's Petrahn, Szeglet Represent Hungary in Sydney

SYDNEY, Australia - Baylor University track athletes Barbara Petrahn and Zsolt Szeglet were both in action at the Summer Olympic Games here Friday. Petrahn advanced to the second round of the women's 400 meters, while Szeglet finished sixth in the first round of the men's 400 meters. Both are representing their home country of Hungary in the Games.
Petrahn finished fifth in heat six of round one, but was still a provisional qualifier for the second round. Running in lane two, she turned in a time of 52.86 seconds. Jitha Burianova of the Czech Republic took first in the heat. Petrahn will be assigned lane seven for the fourth heat of round two, which is scheduled for Saturday at 3:51 a.m. CDT.
Szeglet, who was been hampered by a knee injury sustained earlier in the week, finished fifth in heat five of the first round on the men's side. He posted a time of 46.19 in lane five. Hendrick Mokganyetsi of Russia finished first in the heat with a time of 45.22 seconds.
Former Baylor track star Michael Johnson won his first-round heat with a time of 45.25 seconds, the fourth-best overall time in the opening round. Johnson will be assigned lane four in the fourth heat of round two, scheduled for Saturday at 5:25 a.m. CDT.
