"Texas Southern is a good team because they tempo you. They played the same game against Illinois and LSU and Houston. It was difficult to do some things we've been doing against other teams. But we didn't play as well as we've been playing.

"We had good energy at times, but the pace of the game didn't allow us to play at the tempo we would like to have played at. The main issue tonight was to win the basketball game and avoid injuries.

"I'm not sure we ever put them away. We just won. I guess I'm old school and that still counts for something. It's kind of like time of possession. It doesn't matter who has more time of possession, it's who gets to take the ball home."
