The #20 Lady Bears come into Thursday's game after posting back-to-back wins over Top 25 teams. Baylor posted the program's first-ever victory over a top 10 team, defeating #7 Iowa State, 79-74, on Wednesday in the Ferrell Center then followed that performance by beating #17 Texas 73-51 on Saturday.
The Cowgirls are 10-8 on the season and 2-5 in Big 12 play. They are unranked but are receiving votes in the AP poll.
Because of the memorial service for the eight members of the OSU men's basketball program on Wednesday, the women's game has been moved to Thursday.
The Lady Bears will leave Stillwater after Thursday's game and fly directly to Boulder to prepare for their Saturday afternoon game with Colorado.
MORE FIRSTS...
The Lady Bears added another `first' to their achievements of the season. The victory over #7 Iowa State was Baylor's first win over a Top 10 team.
Another first was achieved by following the Iowa State win with a victory over Texas. It marked the first time in the program's history that BU posted back-to-back wins over ranked teams.
BACK IN...
The Lady Bears jumped back into the AP Top 25 at #20 after dropping out of last week's poll. Wins over #7 Iowa State and #17 Texas propelled Baylor back into the rankings. The Lady Bears had been ranked #23 and tied for #25 before losing three straight games.
Since the beginning of NCAA competition in women's basketball (1981-82), Baylor had never been ranked in the top 25, but had received votes during the 1997-98 campaign and at the beginning of the 1998-99 season.
Jan. 8 - No. 23 AP
Jan. 15 - Tie for #25 AP
Jan. 29 - No. 20 AP
