WACO, Texas - Sunny Nicholas led all players with 12 kills and a season-high 15 digs to propel Baylor past Southwest Texas State here Monday night in women's volleyball action 30-19, 30-28, 30-19. With the victory, the Bears improve to 13-6 on the season, SWT falls to 8-15.

Southwest Texas did all it could to stop Baylor's Stevie Nicholas. The Bobcats succeeded in that, but they failed to find an answer for anyone else in the Green and Gold. Tatiana Kenon had nine kills with only one error in 20 swings (.400), matching Sunny Nicholas for the highest attacking percentage on the night.

Laura Daniela Lloreda tied the Baylor record for service aces in a match with nine, equaling the total amassed by Jana Ranly in five games Oct. 3, 1985 against Rice. Stevie Nicholas did collect eight kills, but her six errors in 31 attempts left her with a .065 attacking percentage.

In all, Baylor tallied 13 service aces, one shy of the school record for aces in a three-game match. Stevie Nicholas, Sunny Nicholas, Kenon and Jillian Mazzarella each had one.

Baylor hit .350 in the first game, jumping out to a 13-6 lead and never looking back. Southwest Texas led most of the second game as the Bears attacking percentage dipped to .175 in game two. However, the Bears out-scored the Bobcats 6-3 down the stretch for the 30-28 win. Game three was all Baylor, after building a 7-0 lead, the Bears coasted to victory.

The Bears will return to action Wednesday, hosting Iowa State at 7 p.m. Baylor defeated Iowa State 3-0 in Ames, Iowa, earlier in the month.
