WACO, Texas (AP) - Sheila Lambert scored 19 points, and Danielle Crockrom had 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead No. 13 Baylor to a 65-60 win victory over Denver on Sunday.
The Lady Bears (4-0) led 42-22 early in the second half before the Pioneers battled back and narrowed the margin to 57-54 on Misty Staton's jumper with just over 2 minutes to play.
With 36 seconds remaining, Denver pulled within three on Nikki Weddle's 3-pointer, but Lambert made two free throws with 14 seconds left to seal the victory.
Staton led Denver (2-1) with 20 points, including 10-of-11 free throws, and Weddle added 16 points.
After Weddle's layup gave Denver its only lead at 8-7, Baylor went on a 12-0 run, led by Crockrom's eight points, to take a 17-8 lead.
The Lady Bears held Denver's leading scorer Melissa Garcia, who had averaged 22 points in the first two games, to two points.
