#18 Women's Tennis Wins Fourth Straight

WACO, Texas - The 18th-ranked Baylor women's tennis team won their fourth match in a row to open the season, beating No. 29 TCU 6-1 Monday afternoon at the Marrs McLean Tennis Courts in Waco.
Baylor (4-0) opened by sweeping doubles from the Horned Frogs (0-1). The Bears have won 11 of 12 doubles matches and 23 of 24 singles matches this season.
No. 41 Vida Mulec clinched the match for the Bears at No. 3 singles, winning in straight sets over No. 84 Paty Aburto. Aburto missed an overhead smash, hitting it into the net to give Mulec the match-winning point.
Baylor's only loss came at No. 4 singles, where TCU's Saber Pierce outbattled Karin Andersson to win 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. The loss made Monday's match the first non-sweep of the year for Baylor.
The next action for the Bears comes Saturday as Baylor travels to Athens, Ga. to take on No. 2 Georgia. The match is set fo 11 a.m. CT.
NOTES: Andersson's doubles win moved her into fifth place alone in school history in career doubles wins with 60, one behind fourth-place Melissa Castro (1991-95)... Katja Kovac's win was her 13th in her last 14 matches and tied her with Castro for third in program history in career singles wins (82).
