Sheila Lambert Up For National Honor

Baylor guard Sheila Lambert has been selected as one of 10 finalists for the Conseco Nancy Lieberman-Cline Step Up Award it was announced by the Rotary Club of Detroit.
The award, in its second year, is a national project of the Rotary Club of Detroit honoring the nation's top collegiate point guard in women's Division I basketball. The criterion for the award is the floor leadership, play-making and ball-handling skills that personified Nancy Lieberman-Cline during her career.
The AP sportswriters from across the country have included Lambert as one of the "Top 10 Nominees" for this year's award.

Sue Bird, of Connecticut, received the honor in its inaugural year. This year's award will be presented at a noon luncheon at the Detroit Renaissance Center on April 7, 2001.
Lambert currently averages 22.9 points, 6.15 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 3.15 steals a game. On a national scale, Lambert ranks #6 in scoring, #17 in assists and #20 in steals. In the highly competitive Big 12 Conference the 5-7 speedster is #2 in scoringand #3 in both assists and steals.
"Sheila's very deserving of this honor," Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson said. "She's brought a new dimension to the program and is one of the reasons we've had a little national recognition."
