MILWAUKEE - The 15th-ranked Baylor women's tennis team swept a doubleheader on the road, beating Marquette and Wisconsin by identical 6-1 scores on Friday at the Halfaer Center on the Marquette campus.
The Bears (15-3, 5-1) opened the day by taking advantage of a hurting Marquette team to come away with the win. Marquette (5-11) had several players unavailable due to injuries and illness and was forced to forfeit No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles.
The Bears swept the remaining two doubles matches and won four of five singles matches to take the dual match win. The Bears' only loss came at No. 4 singles, where Frida Borjesson lost in straight sets.
Friday evening, Baylor beat Wisconsin 6-1. The Bears swept doubles and won five of six singles matches from the Badgers (6-10) to claim the win.
Junior Katja Kovac won twice on Friday to move into a tie for first place in school history with 92 career singles wins. Rachel Forney also won 92 matches for the Bears from 1989-1993.
The Bears head to Chicago Sunday to face No. 11 Northwestern. The match is set for 11 a.m.
