WACO, Texas - Baylor softball pitching coach Brandi Landry is resigning her position to pursue a career in nursing.
Landry has served as an assistant to head coach Glenn Moore for three seasons, two at LSU and one at Baylor. After a stellar four-year collegiate career on the mound, Landry made the transition to the coaching ranks with ease. The Baton Rouge native guided the LSU mound corps to a 10th place national ranking in 1999 and to the No. 9 spot in 2000. In just one season at Baylor, Landry guided and developed Baylor's pitching ace Joni Miller. Miller ended the season ranked No. 4 nationally in saves (5) and No. 16 in victories(27).
"Leaving softball after it has been a part of my life for 18 years has not been an easy decision, but I believe that it is the right time in my life to make the change. It has been a blessing to have the opportunity to work with Coach Moore and the entire Baylor softball staff. They are like family. I am excited about the future of Baylor softball. With the commitment of the university and the leadership of Coach Moore, Baylor softball is headed for great things," said Landry.
"This is a bittersweet moment for us. We've worked together so long and Brandi's like a little sister to me. She helped us implement our system here at Baylor and has done an outstanding job for us. However, she's decided to go in a different direction and we wish her well," said Moore.
A national search will be conducted for Landry's replacement.
