Track Lands Two Prize Transfers Out Of North Texas

WACO, Texas - Former North Texas distance runners Debbie Thornhill and Kyle King have decided to transfer to Baylor for the 2002 track and field season it was announced today by head track and field coach Clyde Hart.
A junior from Wichita Falls, Texas, Thornhill comes to Baylor with an already impressive list of accomplishments. The 2001 Sun Belt Conference cross country champion, Thornhill went on to finish a team-best 10th at this year's NCAA South Central regional. Thornhill also took top conference honors in the 5,000 meters and finished third in the 3,000 meters at the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships a year ago.
King, a sophomore out of Sulphur Springs, Texas will also bolster Baylor's squad of distance runners in 2002. King finished sixth at the 2001 Sun Belt cross country championships and went on to place 24th overall at the region meet. King has also seen success on the track, finishing third in the 3,000 meters at the 2001 indoor conference meet, and fifth in the 5,000 meters at the outdoor championship.
Baylor track and field will resume the indoor season Friday, Jan. 18 when it travels to Houston, Texas to participate in the Southwest Indoor Classic.
