PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Baylor's women's golf team is currently tied for first place with Missouri (305-297=602) after carding a two-round 602 on Monday (302-300=602). Today was the first of the two-day tournament at Notre Dame's Adidas Fall Invitational. The tournament is being played at the Dye Course at PGA Village (par 72) in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
The Bears, ranked 28th nationally by Golfstat, are led by senior Hanna Sofia Svenningsson who is currently tied for first place after shooting a first-round 1-under par (71) and an even-par on the second round, her best two rounds of the season. With a two-round total of 1-under 143, she is currently tied with Randi Gauthier of North Texas.
Senior Melanie Hagewood (76-76=152) and junior Michaelyn Morgan (80-72=152) are currently tied for 13th place. Freshman Josefin Svenningsson carded a two-round total of 155 (75-80). She is currently tied for 21st. Junior Kelli McKandless came in tied for 35th place after shooting a two-round total of 161 (80-81). Freshman Erin Bradford is tied for 48th place (84-84=168).
Rounding out the top five teams after 36 holes are Kent State (301-306=607),Arkansas (302-309=611) and Iowa State (311-303=614). Kent State and Nebraska were tied for first after the first 18 holes with 13-over par totals of 301.
The Bears are set to play their final round of play Tuesday. Baylor women's golfers are coming off a first-place finish at the Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational hosted by New Mexico State earlier this month.
