LLOYD NOBLE CENTER - NORMAN, OKLA.
BAYLOR HEAD COACH DAVE BLISS:
On Oklahoma:
"The Sooners are just a very difficult team to get ready for, especially in one day. They're quick, well coached and they play hard. I admire what they have accomplished. We stayed in the game when we used our heads but when we got into the shoot-and-run game OU beat us with their quickness."
On the first half:
"In the first half we made some ill-advised decisions and we were down at the half. We've had problems all season at the three spot but we were able to do some things right and get some shots, but we were fighting an up hill battle all night."
On OU's offense:
"They have a lot of weapons other than Hollis Price. Price hit that shot right before the half and that was a good play. Aaron McGhee is a tough inside guy."
On Baylor:
"Our freshmen got a little excited out there in the first half and didn't play as well as they usually do. Matt Sayman did a good job with his free throws to help us out."
JUNIOR GUARD WENDELL GREENLEAF
On the game:
"I take a lot of responsibility tonight because of my turnovers. We made mental mistakes and didn't come in here ready to play the No. 4 team in America."
On playing Oklahoma:
"The toughest thing about playing OU is their physical play and intensity. They come out and use their bodies and we're not a physical team."
Oklahoma Quotes
Oklahoma Head Coach Kelvin Sampson
On the game:
"Dave Bliss has done an outstanding job with his team. His teams are always well coached and well prepared. I thought that our defense and rebounding were excellent tonight. I liked what I saw from our seniors tonight. Aaron McGhee was great and (Daryan) Selvy gave us a spark off the bench. Jason Detrick had an excellent game, as well. We didn't play well overall, but we rebounded and we defended well. If you can't hit shots, then you have to take up the slack in other areas like defense, rebounding and getting to the free throw line. We were able to do that and we're happy to get this win."
On the play of senior forward Aaron McGhee:
"Aaron is playing outstanding right now. You always pull for your seniors and want them to do well because it's their last year. You want them to show leadership and Aaron definitely does that. His work ethic and his toughness are keys for our team. I thought he was our best player tonight."
Oklahoma Senior Aaron McGhee
On tonight's game:
"I got into a good rhythm in the second half. I kept on shooting the ball and it started to fall for me. I just wanted to keep my head up and have confidence in my game. We ran some real good plays that got me the ball on the blocks and I took advantage of that. On one play, Jason (Detrick) penetrated and got me the ball for a dunk and I appreciated that!"
Oklahoma Junior Jason Detrick
On tonight's game:
"I was trying to have fun out there tonight. Coach Sampson and I had a talk a little while back and he told me to have fun out on the court. He told me to keep working hard and that I could help this team improve. I played with a lot of confidence tonight. Coach Sampson has confidence in me and that allows me to go out and know I can do well."
Oklahoma Senior Daryan Selvy
On how OU's rebounding helped key tonight's game:
"We play our best basketball when we can do well on the offensive boards. We give ourselves a better chance to win when we hit the glass and we did that tonight. We have to keep working hard, especially on defense. We can't let the other team get as many easy baskets as we did."
