Track's Petrahn Wins 100, 200 at Texas A&M All-Comers

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Competing just a handful of athletes the Baylor track and field team still came away with an outstanding performance at the Texas A&M All-Comers meet Thursday at the Anderson Track and Field Complex.
Senior Barbara Petrahn headlined all Bear performers winning both the 100 and the 200 meter races with times of 11.44 and 23.47, respectively. Baylor's other gold-medal winning performance came from fellow senior Jim Autenreith in the pole vault. Autenreith cleared 17-2 ? to top the nearest competitor by a foot.
Baylor also had several athletes record top-three finishes on the afternoon. Freshman Elizabeth Wilson took home bronze in the 100 meters with her third-best time of the season (11.84) in the event, while senior T.J. Henderson and freshman Chris Gillis placed third in the pole vault (16-2 ?) and the long jump (23-9 ?), respectively. Senior Michael Smith also ran to a third-place showing for the Bears, turning in a time of 47.72 in the open 400 meters.
Other top-five performances for the Bears included a fourth-place showing by Lisa Housholder in the javelin (115-0) and a fifth-place finish by freshman Ryan Jeffrey in the 400 (47.99).
The Bears will take the weekend off before heading to the University of Missouri for the Big 12 Championships, Fri.-Sun., May 17-20.
