Baylor Track and Field Team Earns Preseason Recognition

WACO, Texas - The first Trackwire 25 rankings of the 2003 campaign were released on Jan. 13. The Baylor men's squad is one of six teams projected to finish 18th at the NCAA Championships.
LSU, Arkansas, Tennessee and South Carolina lead the preseason Trackwire rankings. No. 15 Texas paces the Big 12 teams, while Texas A&M and Nebraska are tied with Baylor at 18th. Texas Tech is the only other conference foe among the rankings. The Red Raiders are among four teams tied at 24th.

The men's team tied for 16th at the 2002 NCAA Indoor Championships behind a national title by the 4x400 meter relay squad. Zsolt Szeglet, Charles Sterling, Michael Smith and Darold Williamson teamed up to clock a 3:05.54 in the event to earn All-America honors. Williamson is the only returning member of the relay team.
Both Baylor Bear squads begin indoor action on Saturday at the Houston Indoor Invitational.
