WACO, Texas - Stella Odion and Casey Schuur, members of Baylor's volleyball team, visited second-and third-grade physical education students at South Waco Elementary on Thursday.

The two student-athletes spoke to the students about the importance of teamwork, achieving their goals and making good grades and staying in school. However, the elementary students were more interested in the players' lives at Baylor.

Odion and Schuur also told the children how important it was to be an active listener. The students showed they had this quality down when Odion asked them if they knew what teamwork meant. Every hand was raised, each eager to tell their definition.

Physical education teacher Pam Fischer asked the Baylor students to speak to her class because they are learning the fundamentals of volleyball. The students received lessons from Odion and Schuur on the proper way to pass the ball and how to do an underhand serve.

The school visit is just one example of how Baylor athletes are involved in many Waco community relations programs.
