#7 Kansas State Tops Volleyball, 3-0

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Freshman middle blocker Nicole LeBlanc led Baylor with 10 kills and four blocks as the Bears fell to No. 7 Kansas State, 3-0 (30-21, 30-17, 30-24) in Big 12 volleyball action Saturday night at Ahearn Field House.

Senior outside hitter Tisha Schwartz and freshman middle blocker Desiree Guilliard-Young added seven kills each, while senior libero Stevie Nicholas led the Bears (11-13, 3-8 Big 12) defensively with 12 digs.

Lauren Goehring led KSU (20-3, 10-1) with 10 kills, while Cari Jensen had nine. Lauren Downey-Wallace led the Wildcats with 16 digs. The Wildcats hit .360 for the match and outdug the Bears, 37-32. KSU also had 13 service aces compared to only five for Baylor.

KSU took control early in game one, scoring the first four points. With a 5-3 lead, the Wildcats then ripped off eight-straight points to go up, 13-3. KSU hit .344 for the game and were led by Hejjas, who had five kills. KSU got to match point at 29-17, but Baylor scored four-straight before dropping the opening frame, 30-21. The Bears hit .217 for the game and got four kills from LeBlanc.

The Wildcats started off quickly in game two as well as the Bears took a timeout trailing, 13-6. KSU then scored four straight to take a 17-8 lead and used another four-point run to go up, 23-10. The Wildcats took a two-game lead, 30-17, as they hit .387, compared to only .077 for the Bears.

KSU held a slim lead at 8-7 until it scored three straight for some breathing room at 11-7. Down 21-14, Baylor went on a four-point run to cut it to 21-18, but that would be as close as it would get. KSU hit .351 to close out the match, 30-24, while Baylor hit .313 in the final game.

Baylor returns to action when it faces Oklahoma on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at McCasland Field House in Norman, Okla.
