WACO, Texas - Baylor sophomore setter Emily Huston was named to the Academic All-America Disrict VI Volleyball Team as selected by CoSIDA, which announced the awards on Thursday. Huston earned third-team honors and is now eligible for the nationwide Academic All-America awards.
The Santa Rosa, Calif., native is having a career year on the court, racking up 1,307 assists - already the fifth-highest single-season total in school history. She is averaging 11.77 assists per game to rank fifth in the Big 12 Conference, and leads the team with 40 service aces. Huston has also amassed 1,830 assists for her career, which ranks seventh all-time at Baylor.
Huston had a career-high 65 assists at Texas Tech on Oct. 15 and a career-high 15 digs against Iowa State on Nov. 8. She has also recorded seven double-doubles this season, which is tied for second on the team.
Huston is a double major in international studies and environmental studies and was one of only three sophomores selected the team.
