WACO, Texas - The Baylor University baseball team will help Habitat for Humanity with a pair of projects on Nov. 7 and 14.
The projects include renovating buildings on the old Paul Quinn College campus and working on a Waco home on Dawson Street. The baseball team will be divided into groups and assigned duties on both sites. The two-day project will require the team to volunteer for over eight hours.
David Tatum, the project's construction manager, is excited to have the baseball team's help.
"We're trying to get the house on Dawson Street ready for a Waco family so they can move in by Christmas," he said.
This is the first year that Baylor baseball has partnered with Habitat for Humanity.
"We've always painted and worked on houses in the area," said head coach Steve Smith, "but this is the first time that we have done Habitat for Humanity."
The activity is just one example of how Baylor athletes give back to the Waco community.
