Redshirt senior first baseman becomes the eighth first-team selection in program history
WACO, Texas – Baylor baseball redshirt senior first baseman Tyce Armstrong has been named to the 2026 Academic All-America First Team, as selected by College Sports Communicators and announced Tuesday by the organization.
Armstrong, a graduate student, completed his undergrad degree in business management from UT Arlington and sported a 3.81 GPA as a sports management grad student at Baylor. He becomes the 15th different Bear all-time to collect the program's 19th Academic All-America honor and is the eighth first-team selection in BU history.
On the field, Armstrong became Baylor's all-time single-season home run leader in his first and only year with the Bears, breaking the program record with 24 homers on the season. He batted .338 on the year and slugged .757 with 71 hits, 39 of which went for extra bases, including 14 doubles, one triple and his 24 long balls, which ranked as the 10th-most in the country. Armstrong posted a 1.210 OPS, the fifth-best in the Big 12, and led the team with 50 runs scored while driving in 64 of his own, the most by a Bear since 2012.
For his outstanding 2026 campaign, Armstrong picked up two All-America honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association and Perfect Game. He also previously earned ABCA/Rawlings Central All-Region First Team honors, All-Big 12 First Team praise, and was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year.
Student-athletes are recognized by CSC members for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. To be considered, one must accumulate a cumulative GPA above 3.50 with at least a sophomore athletic standing, while being a starter or key reserve for their respective team.
