Track's Zeigler Named Junior All-American

WACO, Texas - Baylor freshman long jumper and high jumper Dominique Zeigler, also a wide receiver on the Bears' football team, was named a Verizon Junior All-American by USA Track & Field in two events, the organization announced today. Junior All-American honors are only awarded to the top eight American athletes in each event at the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Zeigler finished third in the high jump with a mark of 7-0 ? at the USA Junior Outdoor Championships held in June at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif. He also had a leap of 22-7 ? in the long jump to finish sixth in the country.

During his freshman campaign on the gridiron, the 6-3 native of Killeen, Texas, saw action in nine games and caught nine passes for 83 yards.

The Baylor track and field team begins the 2004 season at the Oklahoma Indoor Classic on Jan. 17 in Norman, Okla.
