WACO, Texas - Baylor's Lawrence Roberts has been honored as a first-team National Association of Basketball Coaches Division I All-District 9 selection, the NABC announced Thursday. The sophomore forward was one of five students-athletes named to the District 9 first-team, as selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC.
Roberts is leading Baylor with 14.7 points and 10.1 rebounds (2nd in Big 12) per game and has recorded 20 blocks (11th in Big 12). He has tallied 10 double-doubles this season.
The 6-foot-9 Houston native was named the Big 12 Conference Player of the Week on Feb. 17 following his 11-point, 20-rebound double-double in Baylor's road win at then 13th-ranked Oklahoma State.
Roberts was named to the NABC All-District 9 second team as a freshman last season.
The NABC selected 150 student-athletes from 15 districts, all of whom are now eligible for the NABC Division I All-American Team that will be announced at the conclusion of the season.
Roberts and Baylor are in action Saturday, Feb. 22, when they host Nebraska at the Ferrell Center at 2 p.m.
