After two rounds of the BU-Tapatio Springs Shootout at the 72-par, 6,007-yard Tapatio Springs Golf Resort in Boerne, Missouri has taken the lead in the team standings. The Tigers carded a 305 today to bring their two-round total to 616 (311-305). TCU fell to second (298-319=617) followed by Illinois (311-310=621), Baylor (312-310=622) and Kent State (315-316=631) in the 12-team tournament.
D'Rae Ward of TCU remained the individual leader with a two-round total of 143 (68-75). Missouri's Kelli Strubinger is second with a 146 (71-75). Renata Young turned in the lowest score of the day, an even-par 72 to move into third (76-72=148). Randi Gauthier of North Texas is in fourth (75-74=149) while Wisconsin's Malinda Johnson (76-77=153) and Heather MacRea (76-77=153) of McLennan Community College are tied for fifth.
With 36 holes completed, seniors Melanie Hagewood and Hanna-Sofia Svenningsson are tied for the Baylor lead. Hagewood carded a 77 on the second day, which matched her score of 77 from day one for a total score of 154. After opening the tournament with a 75, Svenningsson carded a 79 today to equal 154. Both Bears are tied for seventh place. The lowest second-round score was turned in by freshman Josefin Svenningsson. She carded a 76 on the second 18-holes, dropping three strokes from her 79 on Sunday, for a two-round total of 155. She is tied for ninth. Junior Michaelyn Morgan also dropped three strokes in the second round. With a 78 today, she has recorded a tournament total of 159 (81-78) to tie for 20th. Junior Kelli McKandless is tied for 24th with a 161 (81-80). Playing as an individual, freshman Erin Bradford is tied for 42nd with a 166 (81-85).
The final round of the Shootout will tee off Tuesday morning at the Tapatio Springs Resort.
