Lady Bear Hoops Post 43-Point Victory

WACO, Texas - All five Baylor starters scored in double figures as the Lady Bears posted an 89-46 victory over the visiting Oklahoma State Cowgirls on Wednesday evening in the Ferrell Center. It was the sixth time this season that five Baylor players have scored in double digits.

The win raises Baylor's record to 19-9 overall and 8-8 in league play while the Cowgirls fall to 7-20 and 3-13.

Freshman Sophia Young registered her 13th double-double of the season with a 16-point, 13-rebound performance. She led the Lady Bears in both categories. Steffanie Blackmon tallied 16 points, Jessika Stratton added 12, and Stasha Richards and Ebony Jackson scored 10 apiece. Chantoya Hawkins led the Cowgirls with 11 points and Trisha Skibbe and Cara Painter each scored 10.

The Lady Bears dominated inside, outscoring Oklahoma State 46-16 in the paint. A stingy Baylor defense registered a season-high 23 steals and didn't allow an Oklahoma State field goal in the final 11:40 of the game.

Next up for Baylor will be the Big 12 Tournament which starts next week. All women's games will be played at Reunion Arena in Dallas. The tournament begins on March 11.
