NORMAN, Okla. - The 28th ranked Baylor women's golf team finished tied for third today after posting a 318 at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic (327-312-318=957). The Bears split the third place slot with Texas A&M (325-312-320=957). The tournament was hosted by Oklahoma at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course.
The Bears were led individually by senior Melanie Hagewood who carded a 77 to finish in third pace (76-76-77=229).
Rounding out the individual scoring for Baylor, junior Kelli McKandless shot a final-round 78 (74-71-78) for the 18th place tie. Junior Hanna-Sofia Svenningsson finished tied for 22nd place after shooting a 79 on the last 18 holes of play (83-79-79=241). Freshman Josefin Svenningsson finished the tournament tied for 42nd place (83-80-85=248),and junior Michaelyn Morgan finished in 62nd place (85-85-84=254).
Host Oklahoma took the tournament victory after posting a final-round 312 (301-303-312=916), followed by Texas Tech (319-306-313=938), Texas A&M (325-312-320=957) and Baylor (327-312-318=957) and Kansas State (325-318-316=959).
The Bears have finished in the top five in eight of their 10 tournaments this season including a school-record four tournament victories.
Next up for the Bears is a trip to the Big 12 Championships, April 21-23, at the Country Club of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. The Bears finished fourth at the Big 12 Championships last year.
