Men's Tennis Sends Three to Midland Tournament

WACO, Texas - Men's tennis' Michal Kokta, Barry McLaren and Lars Poerschke will travel to Midland this weekend, Oct. 15-17, to take part in the Midland Tournament at the Midland Racquet Club.

Last season, Baylor's Jason Gould and Matija Zgaga participated in the collegiate invitational in singles and doubles play. Zgaga went 5-0 in the singles bracket to win the championship. Gould split his matches 2-2.

This weekend, the trio will represent Baylor for the second time this fall. Kokta, McLaren and Poerschke participated in the Baylor Intercollegiate Sept. 24-26 in Waco. Kokta, a transfer from the Czech Republic, dropped his first-two matches that weekend while Poerschke, a freshman from Germany, went 1-1 in the duo's first action at Baylor.

For McLaren, he went 3-1 at the Baylor Intercollegiate, followed by a 1-1 performance at the ITA Icy/Hot All-American Pre-Qualifier Oct. 1-3.

Preliminary rounds begin Friday with the championship round concluding Sunday. Results will be posted Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoon at www.baylorbears.com.
