April Holliness Takes Long Jump Title at Iowa State

AMES, Iowa - Baylor junior April Holliness recorded a leap of 20-1 ? to win the long jump crown on the first day of the Iowa State Classic Friday night at Lied Rec Center. Holliness had the second-longest jump of the night, but Sheila Burrell (20-2 1/2) was competing unattached.

Junior Lakadron Ivery, who has already recorded an NCAA provisional time in the 200 meters, finished second in the event with a time of 24.08. Sophomore Marquisha Sefas (24.49) finished seventh, while Elizabeth Wilson (24.97) finished 13th. Ivery also placed 11th in the long jump with a mark of 19-0 ?.

On the men's side, sophomore Jamen Saziru tied for second in the 200 meters with a time of 21.50.

The meet will conclude on Saturday. The Bears are split up this weekend with the rest of the team competing at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
