WACO, Texas - Baylor's Harvey Thomas has been named to the 2004 All-Big 12 third team, as determined by the Associated Press Monday.
Thomas is the fourth Baylor player to receive All-Big 12 status. Former Baylor honorees include current NBA player Brian Skinner (second team, 1997 and 1998), Terry Black (first team, 2001) and Lawrence Roberts (third team, 2002 and 2003).
Thomas, a junior forward from Fredericksburg, Va., finished with averages of 15.6 points and 5.5 rebounds in his first season at Baylor after transferring to Baylor from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.
Thomas and teammate Terrance Thomas, no relation, were also named to 2004 Big 12 Specialty Teams released by the conference office Monday. Terrance Thomas, a senior forward from Dallas, was named to the conference's all-underrated team. Harvey Thomas was selected to the five-man all-newcomer team. The specialty teams are selected by a panel of sportswriters who cover the league.
Terrance Thomas led the Bears in scoring (15.9 ppg), rebounding (6.9 rpg) and double-doubles (six) this season.
