WACO, Texas - The Baylor Lady Bear basketball team achieved its highest final NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Coaches Poll finish this season as they ended the 2003-04 campaign ranked 11th in the final poll. Baylor's previous high final Coaches' Poll ranking came in 2001-02 when it was ranked No. 15.
Baylor completed the 2003-04 campaign with a 26-9 record, its fourth consecutive 20-win season under head coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson and her staff. Baylor, for the first time in the program's history, advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Championships. The Lady Bears were eliminated by the eventual national runners-up, the Tennessee Lady Vols, 71-69 in the Midwest Regional in Norman, Okla. Prior to Coach Mulkey-Robertson and her staff's arrival, Baylor had never advanced to the NCAA Tournament, they have now made three NCAA Tournament appearances.
