WACO, Texas - Baylor rising junior right-hander Mark McCormick was tabbed as the sixth-best pro prospect in the Cape Cod Baseball League, according to Baseball America's annual end-of-summer report. The report is compiled by the publication's executive editor, Jim Callis. McCormick posted a 2-1 record with a 0.93 ERA in six starts with the Wareham Gatemen this summer in the nation's premier collegiate wood-bat league. The Houston, Texas, native tallied 47 strikeouts against only 17 walks and 20 hits in 38.2 innings of work. McCormick was an all-star selection this season in the Cape and was clocked at 101 mph at the league's all-star game. Andrew Miller, a left-handed pitcher at North Carolina, was tops on the list, followed by Georgia Tech shortstop Tyler Greene, St. John's right-hander Craig Hansen, Oregon State right-hander Dallas Buck, Mississippi first baseman/left-handed pitcher Stephen Head and McCormick, who also was sixth on last year's Cape Cod prospect list. In two seasons at Baylor, McCormick has compiled an 8-7 record with 108 strikeouts in 110.1 innings.
