WACO, Texas - The Baylor men's tennis team will send three members to compete in the 2005 Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Indoor Championships Thursday at the Racquet Club of Columbus in Columbus, Ohio. Ohio State University is the host school for this year's championships, which are the second of three played during the 2005-2006 collegiate tennis season.
In singles, Lars Poerschke earned a spot in the tournament by qualifying in the Polo Ralph Lauren ITA Championships earlier this fall. Jon Reckewey and Matija Zgaga will represent the Bears in doubles after qualifying in the ITA Southwest Regional Championships.
Illinois' Ryler DeHeart is the No. 1 seed in singles while Middle Tennessee's Marco Born and Andreas Silijestrom hold the top doubles seed.
Baylor's Poerschke holds the No. 3 seed in the singles bracket and will face Brian Koniecko of Ohio State in first round action on Thursday.
The team of Reckewey and Zgaga will face off against the No. 3 seeded Raian Luchici and Brad Pomeroy of North Carolina in first round action.
