WACO, Texas - Baylor's No. 24 women's tennis team defeated the No. 62 Florida International Golden Panthers on Friday at the Baylor Tennis Center.

This win over the No. 62 team increases the Bears winning streak to four in a row all of which have come against ranked opponents. The Lady Netters are now 5-2 on the season and 3-0 at home.

Baylor came out strong in doubles winning two-out-of three to put the Bears up 1-0 going into singles.

The Bears quickly pulled ahead with all six positions winning their first set. Daniela Covello finished off Nikkita Fountain 6-1, 6-3, to get the winning started for Baylor in singles.

Next, Freshman Caroline Korsawe defeated Bruna Discordia 6-2, 6-3. Zuzana Cerna clenched the game winning match overtaking Shilla D'Armas 6-4, 6-1 putting Baylor ahead 4-0 for the day.

Baylor's No. 57 Zuzana Zemenova also posted a win over FIU's only ranked player, No. 77 Paula Zabala 6-1, 6-4 in the number one spot for the Bears.

The Bear's Zuzana Krchnakova and Klara Zrustova finished off the Golden Panthers and completed the sweep.

The Bears will return to action tomorrow as they face the University of Texas-Arlington at the Baylor Tennis Center. The match will begin at 1 p.m.
