BOERNE, Texas - Host Baylor shot a seven-over-par 295 Thursday and holds a six-stroke lead over Michigan after the first round of the 2005 Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout. The fifth annual collegiate women's golf tournament is being held at the Tapatio Springs Golf Resort in Boerne, Texas.

Michigan freshman Isabelle Grendreau shot a 36-35 Thursday to lead the field of 98 with a one-under 71 through the first round.

Baylor was led by Josefin Svenningsson, who shot a first-round 35-37 and is second individually at even-par 72. Teammate Meredith Jones shot a one-over 73 (38-35) and is tied for third along with Emily Milberger of Oklahoma (37-36) and Rebecca Samuelsson of Florida International (35-38).

Trailing Baylor and Michigan (301) in the team standings is Oklahoma, 11 strokes back after carding a first-round 306. SMU stands fourth with a 314, and UTEP is in fifth at 315. Rounding out the top 10 are Texas Tech (sixth place - 316), Florida International (seventh place - 321), Arkansas Little Rock and Eastern Michigan (eighth place tie - 322) and Memphis (10th place - 323).

The field of 18 teams includes five schools ranked among the nation's Top 50 according to Golfstat.com.

Baylor freshman Sian Reddick shot a first-round two-over-par 74 (38-36) and is tied for sixth individually. Sophomore Anna Rehnholm is tied at 11th after carding a four-over 76 (38-38) Thursday. Junior Sherry Summers would have carded a 78 but was disqualified after failing to sign her scorecard. Freshman Stephanie Waters competed as an individual and shot a first-round 87 (42-45; tied for 78th).

The 2005 Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout continues with a second round Friday of 18 holes beginning at 7:45 a.m. CST at Tapatio Springs Golf Resort, a 6,007-yard, par 72 course.
