Several Public Events on Tap for Lady Bears

WACO, Texas - Fresh off the program's first NCAA basketball national championship the Baylor Lady Bears have several public events lined up to commemorate the occasion.
The Lady Bears will travel to Austin on Thur., April 14 for a visit to the Texas State Capitol. The players and staff will be recognized on the floor of both the House of Representatives and the Senate before enjoying a reception with Governor Rick Perry.
The City of Waco, along with the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Waco Inc., will host a special Celebration Parade and brief presentation ceremony for the Lady Bears on Monday, April 18th at 5:30 p.m. The parade will begin around 12th and Austin Ave. and will go down Austin to 3rd Street at Heritage Square where a brief presentation ceremony will take place. Players, coaches, Waco Mayor Robin McDurham and Baylor President Robert Sloan Jr. will ride in convertibles provided by area car dealers.
The Lady Bear basketball banquet will be held on Thur., April 21 in the Ferrell Center. The annual event, sponsored by the Tip-Off Club, honors the team's seniors. A video will be shown and team awards will be announced.
On Wed., May 4, an autograph session at the Ferrell Center will be held from 4-6 p.m.
Several other items are in the planning stages including appearances at Dallas Mavericks, Texas Rangers and Houston Astros contests. Details regarding these activities will be released as they become available.
"We appreciate the overwhelming generosity and support as we try to balance our student-athletes' academic schedules and completing the semester with the opportunity to participate in some exciting events," said head coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson. "The autograph session is something that will allow the community to see the Lady Bears and to satisfy what has become an unbelievable demand."
