WACO, Texas - Baylor senior setter Emily Huston (Santa Rosa, Calif.) has been invited to join the USA Select Volleyball Team, a team of 18 under-22 current college players, for a two-week tour of Argentina. The team departed for Buenos Aires Tuesday and will return June 19.
USA Select will be helping the Argentine junior national team prepare for summer competition. They will also face the Argentine Senior "B" team, some professional and under-22 club teams in Buenos Aires and the surrounding neighborhoods and suburbs.
"This is a great opportunity for Emily as a member of the USA Select Team," Baylor head coach Jim Barnes said. "Our future Olympians are picked from these teams and she will have a great experience in Argentina playing at a very high level. They are coached by one of the top coaches in the U.S. - Tom Hilbert - and the team is full of top college talent from throughout the U.S. Hopefully her recent back injury won't hold her back from playing at 100 percent."
Huston ranks third on Baylor's all-time assist list and is one of only three Bears with 3,000 career assists. She also ranks third on the all-time service aces list entering her final year.
