Soccer Falls in Finale of TCU Invitational

FORT WORTH, Texas -- After a scoreless first half, the Boston University soccer team scored one minute into the second half and added an insurance goal as the Terriers held off the Baylor soccer team 2-0 in action at the TCU Invitational. With the loss, Baylor falls to 2-3-1 on the season as Boston improves to 4-3-0 with the victory.
Neither team was unable to get on the board in the first 45 minutes as Baylor's Ashley Holder made six saves in the first period to send the game into halftime tied at 0-0.
The Terriers managed to get on the board quickly in the second period; however, when Jennifer Herman took a corner kick from Meghan Cook in the 47th minute and put it into the back of the net to give Boston University the 1-0 lead.
Boston added an insurance goal in the 62nd minute when Cook blasted a shot into the lower right-hand corner of the net to give the Terriers a 2-0 lead.
The two-goal edge was enough as Baylor was unable to score the rest of the way as the Bears suffered their second shutout loss of the season.
Stephanie Dreyer recorded the shutout victory while making four saves as Holder played well in goal for the Bears, making 10 saves in the loss.
Boston University held a 20-5 edge in shots as Jennifer Martin and Anna Schuch led the Baylor attack with two shots each.
Baylor will return to action on Thursday, Sept. 15, when the Bears travel to Dallas, Texas, to face SMU at 7:00 p.m.
