Baylor volleyball hits the road for the first time in more than two weeks when it faces Texas A&M Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at G. Rollie White Coliseum in College Station, Texas. The live audio broadcast will be available through CSTV's All-Access on BaylorBears.com at 6:15 p.m.
The Bears are led by senior outside hitter Nicole LeBlanc, who is averaging 3.59 kills and 3.19 digs per game. Senior middle blocker Desiree Guilliard-Young ranks fifth in the Big 12 with a .349 hitting percentage and averages 2.92 kills per game, while ranking second in the league with 1.51 blocks per game. Freshman setter Taylor Barnes paces the offense averaging 11.32 assists, 1.33 kills and 2.20 digs per game, while ranking second in the league with 0.53 service aces per game. Junior libero Kristen Schramek leads the Bears defensively, ranking fifth in the Big 12 with 4.17 digs per game.
In its last match, Baylor rallied from a 2-0 deficit to upset No. 16 Missouri in five games. Barnes recorded her second triple-double of the season with 10 kills, 61 assists and 13 digs, while Schramek had a career-high 34 digs. LeBlanc led five Baylor players with double figure kills, totaling 18 to go along with 21 digs, while freshman middle blocker Anna Breyfogle had 14 kills and 10 blocks.
Texas A&M is led by freshman Mary Batis, who ranks 10th in the Big 12 with 3.72 kills per game and also leads the team with 3.28 digs per game. Christi Hahn averages 3.26 kills per game, while Zanny Castillo averages 3.21 digs per game.
In their last match, the Aggies were swept by No. 20 Oklahoma Saturday in Norman. Batis and Sarah Ammerman led Texas A&M with nine kills each, while Batis and Courtnee Rhodes had six digs each to lead the team.
In this season's prior meeting between Baylor and Texas A&M, the Aggies handed the Bears a 3-1 loss in Waco on Oct. 11. Breyfogle led the Bears with 13 kills, while freshman outside hitter Katie Sanders had 10. Hahn had 18 kills and eight blocks for the Aggies, while Batis had 16 kills and 21 digs and Lindsey Yon had 15 kills and 15 digs. In last year's match in College Station, Baylor pulled out a 3-1 victory over Texas A&M, for its first victory at G. Rollie White Coliseum since 1992.
Baylor returns home to host No. 8 Texas Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Ferrell Center.
