Volleyball Falls on Road to No. 25 Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. - Baylor was solid defensively, but struggled offensively as the Bears were swept by No. 25 Oklahoma, 3-0 (30-27, 30-25, 30-21) in Big 12 volleyball action Wednesday night at McCasland Field House.
Senior outside hitter Nicole LeBlanc (Tampa, Fla.) led the Bears (13-5, 2-4 Big 12) with 12 kills and added nine digs. Freshman middle blocker Anna Breyfogle (Buda, Texas) added nine kills, while freshman outside hitter Katie Sanders (Katy, Texas) had eight. Junior libero Kristen Schramek (San Antonio, Texas) had a match-high 18 digs, while senior outside hitter Deja Sweeney (Sacramento, Calif.) added 10.
Bridget Laplante led Oklahoma (13-3, 5-1) with 15 kills, while Eliane Santos had 10. Joanna Schmitt led the Sooners with 15 digs, while Anna Monsen had 13.
Oklahoma hit .190 for the match, while holding Baylor to .095. The Bears outdug the Sooners, 60-55, but were outblocked for only the third time this season, 11.0-8.5. Baylor lost for the first time this season when outdigging its opponent.
The Bears will have only one day between matches as they return to action against No. 11 Texas Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Gregory Gym in Austin, Texas. The live audio broadcast of the match can be heard on BaylorBears.com at 6:15 p.m.
