Volleyball Wraps Up Tough Stretch at No. 11 Texas

Baylor volleyball concludes its stretch of three of four matches on the road and four straight matches against ranked opponents as it travels to face No. 11 Texas Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Gregory Gym in Austin, Texas. The live audio broadcast will be available on BaylorBears.com at 6:15 p.m.

The Bears, which have lost three in a row and four of their last five, are led by senior outside hitter Nicole LeBlanc, who ranks 10th in the Big 12 with 3.83 kills per game and also averages 3.25 digs per game. Senior middle blocker Desiree Guilliard-Young ranks fifth in the league with a .376 hitting percentage, averaging 2.91 kills per game and ranking second in the league with 1.56 blocks per game. Freshman setter Taylor Barnes averages 1.22 kills, 11.12 assists and 2.37 digs per game and ranks second in the Big 12 with 0.60 aces per game. Defensively, junior libero Kristen Schramek ranks fifth in the conference with 4.44 digs per game, while freshman middle blocker Anna Breyfogle ranks sixth in the Big 12 with 1.45 blocks per game.

In its last match, Baylor was swept by No. 25 Oklahoma Wednesday night in Norman. LeBlanc led the Bears with 12 kills and nine digs, while Breyfogle added nine kills. Schramek had a match-high 18 digs, while senior outside hitter Deja Sweeney added 10.

Texas, which has won its last two matches, is led by Darium Acevedo, who ranks seventh in the Big 12 with 4.23 kills per game and Ashley Engle, who averages 3.57 kills per game. Michelle Moriarty leads the conference with 13.64 assists per game, while Alyson Jennings leads the team defensively with 3.81 digs per game.

The Longhorns swept Iowa State on the road in their last match Tuesday in Ames. Engle led Texas with 16 kills and 13 digs, while Acevedo had 11 kills and 10 digs.

Texas leads the all-time series against Baylor, 55-2, including winning the last eight meetings. The Longhorns have won all 26 meetings in Austin.

Baylor returns home for four of its next five matches, beginning Wednesday against Texas A&M at 7 p.m. at the Ferrell Center. The video broadcast will be available through CSTV's All-Access on BaylorBears.com at 6:45 p.m.
