Sevigny Blasts No. 22 Bears Past TCU 10-4

After TCU (11-12) scored a run in the top of the first, Baylor (15-6) answered with three runs on two hits, a walk, an error and a wild pitch in the bottom of the inning. Matt Sodolak plated the first run with an RBI fielder's choice. Dillon then scored on a wild pitch, and Seth Fortenberry scored on a Ben Booker fielder's choice.
The Bears added a run in the second when Sevigny walked, stole second and then scored from second on a wild pitch. Baylor put the game out of reach in the third, scoring four runs on four hits. Jeff Mandel plated the first two runs on a single up the middle, and Sevigny followed with a two-run homer to left.
Sevigny produced the first two-homer game of his career in the fifth with a leadoff shot down the leftfield line. Chase Gerdes, who earlier in the day was named Big 12 Conference Player of the Week, followed with a double to the right-field corner, stole third and scored on a Seth Fortenberry sacrifice fly.
TCU got a run in the fourth on a Corey Steglich sacrifice fly, and two more in the sixth on a Matt Carpenter RBI single and a passed ball.
Baylor starter Randall Linebaugh (2-0) allowed two runs on eight hits and three walks with five strikeouts in 5.0 innings. Jake Weghorst, Drew Jeffcoat, Nick Cassavechia, Owen Reid, Reed Woytek and Kerr Foster worked in relief for the Bears to close out the game.
Frogs starter Shawn Ferguson (2-3) was saddled with the loss, allowing seven runs, six earned, on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts over 2.1 innings.
Sevigny, Mandel and Gerdes all had two-hit games.
