BEIJING, China - Baylor sophomores Quentin Iglehart-Summers (San Antonio, Texas) and Erin Bedell (Plano, Texas) will compete in the 11th World Junior Track & Field Championships Aug. 15-20 at Chaoyang Sports Centre.
After tuning up in Eugene, Ore., last week, the pair arrived in Beijing Thursday.
Bedell is running on her fourth junior national team, two cross country and two track & field squads, while Iglehart-Summers is making his first international appearance.
Iglehart-Summers qualified for the world championships by capturing the 400-meter title, while Bedell was the runner-up in the 1,500 meters at the United States Championships in June.
Iglehart-Summers will begin action Tuesday, Aug. 15, at 11:40 a.m. (10:40 p.m. Monday CDT), while Bedell will run in the first round Friday, Aug. 18, at 10:15 a.m. (9:15 p.m. Thursday CDT). The 400-meter semifinals are Wednesday, with the finals on Thursday. The 1,500-meter final is set for Sunday.
