The Baylor football team completed its fifth consecutive full pad workout Saturday evening on the grass practice fields at Floyd Casey Stadium.
"We didn't execute very well offensively as the defense threw a couple of new wrinkles at us, which confused us a bit," said fourth-year Baylor coach Guy Morriss. "But, we'll get on the film tomorrow, figure it all out and show them what they did wrong and how to handle it. We can get that fixed.
"We don't prep them (the offense) on what's coming, we just told them to be prepared for the nickel," he added. "That's all they get, then they have to figure it out for themselves. I think we are still on track. The attitude is good, but we are a little leg weary. That's why we took some time out (of the schedule) tonight. We just have to keep marching."
Junior running back Brandon Whitaker (sore knee) and freshman defensive end Jameon Hardeman (back strain) returned to practice on Saturday, but 10 players were held out of the 2-hour, 15-minute workout with injuries sustained over the first eight practices.
Junior inside receiver Terrance Parks (sore hamstring), senior defensive end Julian Hill (sore knee), senior nose tackle M.T. Robinson (sore hamstring), senior offensive guard Will Blaylock (muscle strain), senior center Yancy Boatner (concussion), sophomore wide receiver Thomas White (hamstring), sophomore offensive guard Dan Gay (sprained ankle), sophomore inside receiver Carl Sims (hamstring), senior offensive tackle Travis Farst (knee) and junior cornerback Braelon Davis (sore knee) all missed the workout.
In addition, senior preseason All-America punter Daniel Sepulveda continues to be sidelined while recovering from April knee surgery.
"We've got plenty of work in," Morriss said. "But, we've got to get some guys out of the training room who got hurt earlier, or some who were hurt before we even got out on the field like Blaylock (Will), who hurt himself in the weight room. It would be nice to get those guys back. I've (offensive line) got four in the training room and that doesn't help things."
The Bears will return to the practice field Sunday at 6 p.m.
